When Distance Is Harmful, Our Culture Heals Our Wounds

When we decide to leave our native culture, whether to emigrate to another country or to take a step towards a culture different from ours, moving away without being able to return for a long time, we enter into a vulnerable situation. Exposure to other cultures changes the way we see the world but, at the same time, it creates a harmful void in us, difficult to overcome if we are not strong. The foundation of the strength we need to overcome the loss is in our culture itself.
Far away from our motherland, family, and friends, the most valuable thing we have to contribute to that new environment in which we have to prosper, is our culture. To use our culture as a catalyst for our advancement and that of the community, we have to value the good traditions and heritage that has made us honorable people throughout our lives.

It is important to continue to communicate with our loved ones, even if only by phone, and to make healthy friendships in that new community to which we came to contribute the best of ourselves. Happiness and progress are not measured by money, they are measured by our prosperity in physical and mental health and by what we can do to help others live better lives.  Our culture can fill any void, heal any wound, and make us more humanitarian. With our culture,  we know that never, no matter how far we are from home, we are never alone.  #CulturePhilanthropy
